Indeed, we are committed to produce and impart objective and dispassionate knowledge about the past together with making it more inclusive by bringing to the historical frame all those communities/ groups who have hitherto remained hidden from history.  Appreciating the value of historical research, the department undertakes research on themes of live importance. To strengthen teaching and research in history, the department revises the curriculum and initiates necessary changes in teaching- learning and evaluation practices at regular intervals. All this helps the department to remain in tune with current trends at the national and global level. We are committed to hone the mental faculties of our students and make them good and responsiblecitizenry. Guided by our core values, it has been a paramount concern of the department that values like pluralism, gender equity, respect for weak, underprivileged and the marginalized are inculcated among the students. Over the years, the department has moved from progress to progress which is visible in terms of research contributions by the faculty, national and international fellowships, research projects and above all the consistent rise in the pass percentage of outgoing students.
